The Talent Wars of 2021 and 2022 created tremendous velocity of associate churn. As we move through 2023 we are now seeing the all too familiar layoffs et al. The question is, What did it cost firms to hire these associates and to train them. How did clients feel about being introduced to new hires only to say good bye to them 18 months later.
And from the associate side, what is their opinion of how the hiring firm treated them? Are there regrets?
From our perspective, this cyclical occurrence is all too familiar. But we believe the cost and disruption and frankly personal pain can be mitigated by using AI tools and culture fit tools to reduce attrition rate. And when the layoffs need to be made, its my observation that most firms do not look at the skills they will need in the future and see if any of their exisiting talent can be rotated to an area needing help.
